This collection of photos, titled "The Family Portrait of Chinese Ethnic Groups", was taken by a team of 14 professional photographers in China led by Chen Haiwen from Shanghai. It took them a year traveling all over the China to capture these incredible images of people from all 56 ethnic groups in their own places. Traditionally most of the territories where ethnic groups reside are economically underdeveloped due to their remote locations. Recent decades, however, have witnessed a huge change in these areas, benefiting from the economic boom in the rest of China. More and more tourists travel to those once hard-to-reach villages, bringing back beautiful stories and images about their life and culture.

A copy of the collection, produced by HongKong China Tourist Press and owned by the Chinese Culture Development Center in LA, has been displayed in a number of educational and cultural events in California. In September CCDC shipped these pictures to Phoenix for an exhibition at the Mid-Autumn and National Day of China celebration held at ASU by local Chinese communities. Since then it has been on display at the Chinese Senior Center at Phoenix until now.
